Some 70 children with diabetes from 15 different countries from the Middle East and North Africa region are attending the Al Bawasil Camp being held by the Qatar Diabetes Association and sponsored by Al Jaish Sports Club.
According to the latest figures, more than 200,000 people have diabetes in Qatar which has one of the highest prevalent rates — 20.2% of the population — of the disease in the region.
A total of 15,100 participants were recorded at the World Diabetes Congress 2011 in Dubai, making this Congress the largest in IDF history. The attendance rate is a 20% increase on the previous IDF Congress held in 2009 in Montreal.
World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated every year on November 14. The World Diabetes Day (WDD) campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its members association. It engages million of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness.
